Lost in the academic chase...
To make up for time, we no longer greet teachers when they enter the class,
Just to have a little more time to do one extra ten-year-series question.
To get more time to go through exam papers,
We take away Civics and Moral Education (CME) and Pastoral Care & Career Guidance (PCCG).
Because it takes up time, teachers seldom tell us off for not having basic courtesy.
Even for my own tuition kid, she is losing it.
I only have so much time,
Do I choose academics, which I'm paid for?
Or do I choose to teach her the basics of being a person?
Do I get her to just only do for the sake of exam marks,
Or do it properly and neatly, and have lesser time?
Are we losing the practice of virtues in the academic chase?
Is not personal development and virtues important anymore?
Will you give up personal development and virtues for the paper chase?
